There was no reportable FHWA activity last week.

The World Shipping Council filed an amendment to its agreement with the FMC that would allow WSC members to develop tools that enhance cargo screening efforts to improve safety. Additionally, the amendment allows WSC members to create and maintain databases of incidents relating to the identification of undeclared or non-compliant goods. The amendment takes effect on April 13.

USDOT announced $626.7 million in funding through its FY26 Nationally Significant Multimodal Freight and Highways (INFRA) Program, including $200 million dedicated to expanding commercial motor vehicle parking. The Notice of Funding Opportunity also identifies improved access to air cargo hubs and commercial spaceports as a priority to support aerospace activity. Announcement

As mentioned in more detail in our CAGTC update, the Maritime Administration is soliciting applications for the fiscal year 2026 round of the Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP), which funds projects that improve ports’ ability to move goods, streamline supply chain movements, and modernize port operations. The NOFO makes $488.6 million available for this year’s awards. Applications are due on June 26, 2026.

  • The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that U.S. chassis manufacturers were materially injured by imports of chassis and subassemblies from Mexico, Thailand, and Vietnam sold at less than fair value and, in some cases, subsidized by foreign governments. The decision clears the way for antidumping duty orders on imports from all three countries and countervailing duty orders on imports from Mexico and Thailand. Federal Register Notice
  • Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) urged the U.S. Trade Representative to reinstate Section 301 fees on Chinese-built vessels. Letter
  • The Senate Armed Services Committee approved its FY27 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) during a closed markup session. Based on information currently available, no provisions of significance to the intermodal industry have been identified.
